The start

My interest for the 6R4 all started when I first seen on the news the piece about Britain's new world rally challenger, Then the prototype was first seen in action in the Yorkshire Forests of the York National Rally in the hands of Tony Pond and Rob Arthur who are very sadly no longer with us Yorkshire Television produced the six part series The Winning Streak and the Metro 6R4 appear again in a fictional Ternco Oils colours and the love for the car was as strong as ever. On the Lombard RAC Rally of 1985 on Top Gear's live coverage that the full Group B version was shown to the world that I knew I would be a life long fan of the car.

The Website

The idea for the website came about over four and a half years ago when I read some copies of David Sims excellent publication 6R4 News and its then I thought of making an online newsletter site version so that fans and drivers of the 6R4 could see news and views and photos shown by myself and other contributors from different events that the cars where seen out on of Britain's most successful Group B rallycar.

Later it was decided that I would ad a Forsale and wants page for cars, parts and anything else related to the car that people could advertise for free on.Through the 6R4 site I have made good contacts and become friends with owners not only in the UK, but Europe and Worldwide where adverts for cars on here have gone as far as Australia so the word is reaching out about this place, I am also greatful to the drivers that promote my site with website stickers on their cars.

A 6R4 I spent nearly 3 years on in my spare time helping to rebuild with a local driver who I serviced for 12 years on his previous car now competes in circuit racing with this ex ice racing machine. I have also serviced on a good few friends cars at rallies and rallycross too.
