METRO 6R4 LURGAN PARK CHALLENGE 2010Plans for next years Lurgan Park Rally to have a 6R4 Challenge where met with a yes from some of the organisers from the North Armagh Motorcycle and Car Club after speaking to them to see if it could be run within the rally as the event already has the very successful Lurgan MK2 Challenge.Mark Lowe of Metro 6R4 Online News put it to Willie Fullerton and Barry Taggart about it that they said if a number of 6R4 drivers where interested then it could very possibly happen. Its a long time since more than one 6R4 has competed in the park at Lurgan and if a minimum number of six upto however more that could be got it would be a good sight and sound of the former Group B car racing around the park again.Only the 2.5 and 2.8 machines would be allowed to enterNorthern Irish 6R4 driver Craig Bennett welcomed this and he has already confirmed he will bring his Metro to the park to compete on the 31st July 2010 which is a week earlier than this years event.Drivers that have said yes include Craig Bennett as above. John Stone (if he gets another Metro ), Reay Mackay, Andy Horne, Alastair McSkimmingAny Metro 6R4 drivers interested in competing in the Metro 6R4 Challenge next year please email metro6r4onlinenews@yahoo.co.uk And get that date in your diaries now
ALMC STAGES TO HOPEFULLY RUN METRO 6R4 CHALLENGE ON THEIR EVENT IN 2010
Organisers of the ALMC Stages in Ireland are looking to run both a 6R4 and BMW M3 challenge on their rally in 2010. With the interest in 6R4's competing on national rallies on the Emerald isle is has been looked at to run a challenge on their closed road event. Noel Devlin of the ALMC has contacted Metro 6R4 Online News to ask drivers what their thoughts would be in competing on this event as both John Stone and Mark Jasper have contested this event in their cars in 2008 and Jasper this year who finished a creditable third overall proving the Metro can be up their on the national events. Don Whyatt who now lives in Ireland and co-drives for Mark Jasper told the site "From doing the ALMC over the last 2 years ( a brilliant closed road event run just north of Dublin , 3 stages run 3 times ) the interest in the Metro in Ireland is massive, from 'what the fecks that' to 'wow I haven't seen one of these in years', then the feed back off the stages of how it sounds so sweet barking down the lanes. If Lurgan was to run a challenge for Metro's the level of interest would certainly bring in the crowds and we would be there for sure and as its just a short time after ALMC we would be doing both on one ferry crossing."
